CASHLESS ATMs ON 1st APRIL 2009

Its a great news that Reserve Bank Of India has made free transaction from any ATM from 1st April 2009. Now people can withdraw money from any ATM they want without being charged extra. BUT DO YOU THINK THAT IS GOING TO WORK???

I am living in Noida and there are 5 ATMs (ICICI, ABN AMRO, UNION BANK, ING VYSYA and IDBI) at my market place but i could not find 100 rs in any of them. The gaurds of the ATM said that the machine is out of cash. It has never happend to me before. Atleast one or the other ATM had the cash.

This can be a co-incident but this experience has forced me to think otherwise. Has the banks become careless to put cash in the ATM??? I understand that banks must have got the idea that the maximum transaction will take place on 1st april because of the free transaction then why it was not taken care of before hand. I don't know why i am inclined to think that now banks have taken us for granted. If our bank's ATM don't have the cash then so what??? Customer can access to other bank's ATM as it is free now!!!! This is what banks must have thought

I faced the problem on day one when the transaction was free and I don't know whether this problem will remain or will end soon.
I wrote this blog bacause of the problem I faced when I had no money in the pocket and I could not withdrew 100rs when I had the freedom to withdraw money from any ATM.

I want to ask one question to the readers - Is the free service of bank's ATM helpful???? Or will it be a problem for the people as i faced???
